Today in our continuing series of free insurance articles regarding the coverage in free insurance quotes, we’re going to discuss the Other Structures coverage.
Other Structures coverage is an important part of any quote that you receive from any of the big insurance companies, but it’s not one that is as understood as some of the more known coverage. Often times, when we are going over a quote from Safeco, Travelers, Met-Life, or any of the other major insurance companies we represent, our customers tend to ask specifically about the Other Structures coverage.
Other Structures is actually a very straightforward coverage. It protects any structure that you consider part of your property, but that is not directly attached to your house. Let’s say a Hail storm hit one of the many Texas cities plagued by these storms: McKinney, Plano, Keller, Grapevine, Frisco, or any of the other cities in the DFW area. If during this Hail Storm, your fence, or tool shed were to take damage, you would file the claim to have it repaired and you would be reimbursed under the Other Structures coverage.
Generally, the coverage amount for Other Structures is 10% of your Dwelling Coverage total. However in certain circumstances, this may not be enough. In that instance you always have the option to raise the coverage price.
